In Memoriam Béla Tarr - BorGO Cinema

In Memoriam Béla Tarr - BorGO Cinema

On March 5, 2026, at the Kinemax cinema in Gorizia, we will pay tribute to Béla Tarr, one of the most radical and influential authors of contemporary world cinema, who left us this year.

Kinoatelje had already wanted to award him the Darko Bratina Prize last year, but unfortunately his illness prevented him from attending the event.

The evening is part of the GO! STUDIO project program and is dedicated to Tarr's unmistakable cinematic vision, while also placing it within the broader context of the project, which offers young filmmakers and cultural professionals a learning journey through practice: from the film's making to its festival run, from critical reflection to training support programs.

The day will begin at 5:00 PM at the BorGO Cinema in Gorizia, with special guest Sunčica Fradelić, co-founder of the film.factory initiative.

Sunčica will give a talk on the core idea, structure, program, and operational aspects of film.factory, illustrating its basic principles and the driving force behind its development, with a particular focus on practical aspects and day-to-day management.

A discussion with event participants will follow. Testimonials from former students of Béla Tarr's film.factory in Sarajevo will discuss their exceptional experiences at this film school. Jonathan Rosenbaum on film.factory.
