Historical Walk: The Cow's Dilemma

Historical Walk: The Cow's Dilemma

A guided walk through the heart of Gorizia retraces the birth of the eastern border through iconic anecdotes of the twentieth century. The event, led by historian Alessandro Cattunar with Mauro Daltin, officially inaugurates the European Green Belt Days.

From the city center to the iconic sites of the European Capital of Culture, the itinerant itinerary explores the wounds and absurdities of the border imposed in 1947.

Inspired by the book "Storia di una linea bianca," participants will discover how a line on the map came to dissect courtyards, fields, cemeteries, and even the daily lives of residents, caught between dramatic choices and surreal paradoxes like the famous "cow dilemma."

The initiative, created in collaboration with Estplore, intertwines historical memory, landscape protection, and rigorous dissemination.
