Guided tour of Europe/Transalpina Square

Visita guidata di Piazza Transalpina/Trg Evrope

From history to the renovation.

The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation of the Municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and Šempeter-Vrtojba (EGTC GO) invites you to a guided tour of the cross-border Europe Square, whose renovation was co-financed by the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development of the Republic of Slovenia.

Participants of the guided walk will have the opportunity to learn about the renovation project of the square and its surroundings, led by EGTC GO in cooperation with the municipalities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia, together with a joint Italian-Slovenian team of architects. They will also discover the history of this place, full of symbolism, and experience the atmosphere of the first cross-border European Capital of Culture.

The tour will be guided by architect Matej Fornazarič, a member of the Italian-Slovenian team that prepared the renovation plan for the square, and Dr. Kaja Širok, historian and head of the EPIC project.

The guided tour will take place on Friday, September 26, at two times: 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. The meeting point will be the entrance hall of the Nova Gorica railway station, Kolodvorska pot 6. The guided tour will be in Slovenian with simultaneous translation into Italian.
