Documentary Exhibition: THE WILD 1970s IN CARINTHIA

The events of the 1970s placed Carinthia at the center of political and media attention due to the issue of the Slovenian minority in Austria. Of particular importance was the 1976 census of the minority, which revealed the futility of attempts to restrict the rights guaranteed by Article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty. Thanks to the resistance of Carinthian Slovenes and broader solidarity, this attempt failed.

This period was also a time of emancipation, in which young people played a significant role. The Slovenian High School Center played a key role, fostering an educated and socially conscious youth that demanded equal rights and connected with democratic initiatives at home and abroad.

The exhibition also encourages visitors to reflect on what society would be like if the rights provided for in Article 7 were fully realized.

You are invited to the opening, which will take place on Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at EPICenter.
