Concerts in the Basilica: Pordenone Chamber Orchestra

A masterpiece for voice and orchestra, performed by one of the most historic regional orchestras.

As part of the thirty-eighth season of Concerts in the Basilica, the Patriarchal Basilica has organized a performance of Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony by the Pordenone Chamber Orchestra on Friday 11 September at 8.45 pm, in collaboration with the Historic Workers' Mutual Aid and Education Society of Pordenone.

The orchestra will be conducted by Eddi De Nadai , on the extraordinary stage of the Basilica together with the soprano Tamara Ivanis for the transcription by Riccardo Burato .

The Pordenone Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1969, has performed concerts throughout Italy and abroad. Among its most significant projects are the Bach Cantata cycle with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Choir, its ongoing collaboration with the Pordenone Silent Film Festival, and the European project Bravo Bravissimo.

For the occasion, the conductor will be Eddi De Nadai, artistic director of the Pordenone International Festival of Sacred Music and of the “Seghizzi” International Chamber Singing Competition in Gorizia, recently won by Tamara Ivaniš, who will be the soprano soloist during the performance of the Fourth Symphony.

This concert is part of the "Mountains Without Borders - The Music of the Landscape" project, launched in 2025 by SOMSI with the aim of promoting the history, literature, and music of Friuli Venezia Giulia, rediscovering works and figures who have drawn inspiration from these spaces and panoramas.

The concert will be free but reservations are required , which can be made on the EventBrite platform or on the official website of the Basilica of Aquileia.

The Basilica Concerts season, organized by the Foundation for the Conservation of the Basilica of Aquileia together with the Ruda Polyphonic Choir, is made possible thanks to the contributions of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Friuli Foundation, the Aquileia Foundation, and the BCC Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aquileia, the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia in Grado, and the Mattiussi family.
