Concert by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Youth Choir

The concert of the Regional Youth Choir of Friuli Venezia Giulia, directed by Fabiana Noro , arrives in the setting of the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia in Grado .

Accompanied on the piano by Matteo Di Bella , the young singers will perform a decidedly unique program, which combines music with poetry: in fact, all the pieces – included in the program entitled “Visioni Sonore” – are in reality poetic texts transformed into song, in recent times or not.
We thus find names such as Rainer Maria Rilke, Alda Merini, William Shakespeare, Francesco Petrarca, Emily Dickinson, alongside Faurè, Liszt, and Arvo Pärt. The concert will also be an opportunity to hear the world premiere of "Correspondances," a piece composed by Friulian Alessio Domini with lyrics by Charles Baudelaire.

The Regional Youth Choir was founded in 2016 by the Union of Choral Societies of Friuli Venezia Giulia and as part of a national project called the Choral Workshop of the Future. It is a true artistic and educational laboratory, involving around thirty young choristers from across the region, committed to studying the classical repertoire, with a particular focus on the works of regional composers.

After Petra Grassi and Mirko Ferlan, the direction for the three-year period 2024-2026 has been entrusted to Fabiana Noro, director of the Ruda Polyphonic Choir since 2003 and awarded the title of "Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic" for her artistic and teaching activities.

The season of Concerts in the Basilica , organized by the Foundation Society for the Conservation of the Basilica of Aquileia , is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Friuli Foundation, the Aquileia Foundation and BCC Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aquileia, the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia in Grado and the Mattiussi family.
