City on the border - Free entrance and guided tours

A permanent exhibition prepared by Dr. Kaja Širok, exploring the history of Goriška through personal and collective stories and opening space for understanding life along the border in the 20th century.

City on the Border is a permanent exhibition prepared by Dr. Kaja Širok, presenting the history of Goriška through the personal and collective stories of its inhabitants.
 
The exhibition opens a deeper understanding of everyday life in the multicultural borderland of the 20th century and moves beyond traditional national narratives to offer a human and emotional perspective on the events that shaped the region before, during and after the two world wars.
Every first Sunday of the month, admission to the exhibition is free.
Guided tours according to the following schedule:
 
Sunday, 2 August 2026
10:00 – guided tour in Italian
16:00 – guided tour in Slovenian
 
Sunday, 6 September 2026
10:00 – guided tour in Italian
16:00 – guided tour in Slovenian

The organiser reserves the right to change the programme due to organisational or other unforeseen circumstances. If fewer than eight participants register for a public guided tour, the tour will not take place.
