BOWRAIN: Solo Piano for Peace

BOWRAIN: Solo Piano for Peace

In mid-March, exactly on the 88th day of the year, World Piano Day is traditionally celebrated.

Nova Gorica is joining the festive atmosphere of black and white keys, initiated by German composer Nils Frahm, for the seventh time in a row. This time, the guest of the Piano Day is pianist and composer Tine Grgurevič - Bowrain.

Through his work, he combines elements of jazz, ambient and electronic music in a unique way, thus transcending established genre and style labels.

He will present new material in a solo recital called "Solo Piano for Peace." As he says, solo piano is a medium he has been involved with since he began playing and continues to return to.

Playing an instrument without any added elements, in its purest form, is the most difficult and at the same time the most liberating.

Finding peace through playing is the intention that is most urgent for him personally and ideologically, as the world is rushing into an ever-increasing frenzy and unrest that seems impossible to stop. Introduction of the performers: Slovenian musician, pianist, composer and songwriter Tine Grgurević – Bowrain has left a strong mark on the domestic music scene in his decade of activity with his very diverse albums and concerts (Far Out, Distracted, 2020 Seconds Alive, Not Exactly Lost, Heal Me, Bowstrings, Izštekani Bowrain...).

He also has a rich international career - he has performed in most European countries, the United States and South Africa, where he collaborated with the South African performing arts group The Brother Moves On. In 2023, he was an artist in residence at the Arvo Pärt Center in Estonia, where he also performed a solo concert. In February 2025, he performed for the first time in China, where he performed a solo tour of the album Million Homes with ten concerts in the cities of Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou and Sanya.

He repeated his tour in China between October and December 2025 with the "Million Steps" tour in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen.
