“Art Without Borders” 2026

The Municipality of Farra d'Isonzo promotes the fourth edition of the inclusive festival "Art Without Borders," supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The event highlights disability as an open space for creative experimentation, offering workshops and performances to redefine communication, listening, and human relationships.

The festival unfolds across four core thematic tracks: Expressing, Perceiving, Observing, and Meeting. The extensive summer and autumn calendar kicks off in July with the movement and rhythm workshops of "Tutti siamo Carmen" by ASD Viento Flamenco, alongside the theater workshop "Parole, Identità e Confini," followed by contemporary productions such as "Piango in lingua originale."

Embodying a deeply synesthetic approach throughout the region, the initiative transcends traditional barriers, utilizing live performances and photography as tangible tools for community engagement and shared cultural experiences.

This year, the format has been updated thanks to the co-design launched through a public call for proposals with local partners. The rich program of free events (reservations required) is divided into four key thematic paths: Expressing , Perceiving , Observing , and Encountering .

EXPRESSING - Giving Shape to Who We Are July (Farra d'Isonzo and Ruttars): A series dedicated to the body and the word. This includes the dance and flamenco workshop "We Are All Carmen" (July 11, 25, and 26) at the municipal gym and the Jermann Winery, with a final performance open to the public on July 26. This is followed by the youth theater workshop "Words, Identity and Boundaries" (July 17-20) and the contemporary theater performance "Piango in the Original Language" (July 30) at Tenuta Villanova.

PERCEIVING - Exploring the world through other senses. September - October (Farra d'Isonzo): Sensory experiences to overcome the primacy of sight. The program includes the tactile workshop "Art Without Sight" at Tenuta Borgo Conventi (September 5), a special Sensory Dinner in the Dark at Tenuta Villanova (October 3), and the inclusive walk "Camminare la Natura" (Walking Nature) led by blind people (October 4) along the local 10,000 Steps trail.

OBSERVING - Changing perspective on the body and reality. September (Farra d'Isonzo): Focus on social photography against stereotypes. The accessible photography workshop "Corpi Vivi" will be held at Tenuta Borgo Conventi (September 11 and 13). On September 18, the initiative will culminate with the inauguration of the exhibition in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III and at the Town Hall, accompanied by the conference "The Role of Art in Cancer Awareness" in the Council Chamber.

ENCOUNTERING- Building a shared culture October (Farra d'Isonzo and Cormons): Space for the community and the new generations. During the month, meetings will be held in schools to draft the Manifesto of Empathy. The festival will officially close on October 20th at the Cormons Municipal Theater with an inclusive concert by the Calicanto Band, composed of young musicians with and without disabilities.
