ADDITIONAL PROGRAMME IN COOPERATION WITH KINOATELJE

In the framework of cooperation between BOFF (Bovec Outdoor Film Fetsival) and Kinoatelje, two film experiences have been prepared to enrich this year's programme. The film Alfa was produced in cooperation with Kinovozlišče, part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica - Gorizia, while The Run of Your Life will come to Bovec with the travelling Soča-Isonzo Cinema. This collaboration strengthens the connection among audiences and cultures through moving images. We do not collaborate only via the programme, as Kinoatelje also helps with technical equipment and support.

ALFA

r: Jan-Willem van Ewijk, 2024, 100', Slovenian subtitles

Dutch film, a minority Slovenian co-production. It takes us to snowy slopes and equally cold family relationships. Even though the story is set in the Swiss Alps, the stunning mountain scenery was shot mainly in the Slovenian mountains, with the crew filming in Kanin, Zelenica, Pokljuka and Vogel. The film follows Reina, who moves to a small village in the Alps after his mother's death. There he spends time in meditation and works as a snowboard instructor. His quiet, solitary life is shattered by the arrival of his extroverted father, Gijs. Reina loses his patience in one fell swoop and takes his father away from the group to continue the climb up the mountain on their own. In the midst of the unforgiving nature, their struggle for dominance turns into a fight for survival.

The film had its world premiere on Wednesday in the Authors' Days section of the 81st Venice Film Festival. There it was awarded the europa cinemas label 2024, the prize of the pan-European association Europa Cinemas. In collaboration with Kinoatelje and Kinovozlišče, which is part of GO! 2025 official programme.

THE RUN OF YOUR LIFE

r: Mircea Gherase & Lucian Mircu, 2024, 85', English subtitles; Slovenian premiere

The film follows the inspiring journey of extraordinary ultramarathoners, including Tibi Ușeriu, Corneliu Buliga, Eva Hochbauer, Toma Coconea and five others. Together they embarked on an epic journey along Via Transilvanica, the longest and most beautiful continuous walking route in Romania, stretching from the north of the country all the way to the Danube, covering 1400 kilometres, over 30,000 metres of elevation gain, in 24 days. Between these two milestones, the road stretches throughout the whole country (Putna-Drobeta), and a lot will happen. Every day brings many reasons to give up: we may be attacked by a bear or a shepherd dog, we may get lost, we may have to walk in the scorching sun or in the rain, our skin may start to peel and our nails may fall off. Eventually, all masks fall off. It is not certain that the runners will finish the route. And everyone knows that suffering is inevitable.

The film won the Best Romanian Film Award at the Alpin Film Festival (Brașov, Romania, September 2024), had its national premiere on 8 November 2024 and quickly became a hit in Romania. In collaboration with Kinoatelje and the travelling Cinema Soča-Isonzo Cinema, part of GO! 2025 official programme.
