13th Traditional Charity Goricatlon

In the European Capital of Culture, the thirteenth Goricatlon will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025. It is a 6-hour running event with a charitable focus, attended by runners from Slovenia, Italy, and other EU countries, among whom well-known faces are always present.

This year, the event will be held at a new location, in the cross-border area of Piazza Europa, where the run will symbolically connect both cities in a spirit of solidarity and friendship, allowing everyone to feel the heartbeat of the European Capital of Culture together.

We invite you to join us and help support this year’s charitable cause. All funds raised this year will go to the Maternity Ward of the General Hospital “Dr. Franca Derganca” in Šempeter. Currently, they cannot ensure that a new family can stay together throughout their stay in the hospital, even after birth. Therefore, the maternity ward aims to create a family room to allow the newborn to stay with both parents.

The event is organized by the Public Sports Institute of Nova Gorica and the Rotary Club of Nova Gorica.

How to participate?

1. Invite your family members, friends, and colleagues. Form a team of 2-6 members who will run (or walk) on the designated course. The team collects laps together over all 6 hours.
2. Register your team via the form on the Goricatlon website (see menu: "team registration").
3. The first team member picks up the race number at least half an hour before the event starts and begins at 10:00. At 11:00, they hand the number to the next runner. The number is passed in a relay until the last runner, who starts at 15:00.
4. For each completed lap, the team donates an amount agreed upon by the members at registration. The minimum donation is €1.00 per completed lap, or a minimum total donation per team of €50.00.

The lap measures 1 km.
