PARCO PIUMA ISONZO

Set in a setting of extraordinary beauty, the Piuma park, stretching between Mount Calvario and the Isonzo River, is made up of 32 hectares divided into two parts, one hilly and one riverside, opened to the public in 1985 and 1988 respectively.
In the upper section, which extends between the Groina stream, the village of Piuma, and the Oslavia hills, three types of biotope can be distinguished: the oak forest, the mixed forest with a predominance of black locust and smaller proportions of chestnut, cherry, and sycamore, and finally the alder grove composed of black alder near the waterways. This section features various recreational facilities. Equipped for trekking and physical activity, it also includes dedicated refreshment areas with outdoor grills.
In the riverside section, which is mostly covered with meadows lined with black alder, black poplar, white willow, and small patches of the former with hazel undergrowth, it is possible to go kayaking and canoeing along the Isonzo.
