PARCO DELLA RIMEMBRANZA

Evocative memorials and monuments to those who gave their lives in defense of their country characterize the Remembrance Park, built in 1923, after the First World War, on the site of the old city cemetery.
Of great impact are the remains of the memorial temple dedicated to the patriots of Gorizia, located in the center of the park, which was blown up at the end of World War II by Slovenian Domobranci allies of the Nazis. It was never rebuilt, and the rubble, reflected in a fountain, is still visible today at the site where the building once stood.
The front part features a symmetrical layout with flowerbeds and lawns, while the rear part is dominated by trees and shrubs, with play equipment for children.
The park features several varieties of plants such as the holm oak, the catalpa, the pendulous beech, the Sophora Japonica, the oak, the Magnolia grandiflora and the Lawson cypress.
