PARCO DEL MUNICIPIO

Designed in its original Italianate configuration, with geometrically shaped flowerbeds regularly arranged along the main axis of the building by architect Nicolò Pacassi in 1740, the park of the Gorizia town hall, annexed to Palazzo Attems Santa Croce, has undergone various modifications and expansions over the decades.

Particularly significant was the 1820 overhaul, after the entire complex became the property of industrialist Gian Cristoforo Ritter, who expanded the park following a Romantic-style layout, with curved paths and irregular groves. The construction of the small monopterometric temple, located at the end of the new visual axis, likely dates back to this period.

Today we can still admire some centuries-old plane trees, imposing lime trees and the resting trunk of a centuries-old metasequoia.
