DAG – Digital Art Gallery

Gorizia opens its new Digital Art Gallery (DAG) with Refik Anadol’s “Data Tunnel”, an immersive AI-driven installation that brings Nature to life in the restored Bombi Tunnel.

Once an air raid shelter and later a passageway between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the Bombi Tunnel has been reborn as the largest digital gallery in Europe and stands as one of the most significant permanent legacies of GO! 2025. Its curved 1,000-square-metre LED wall – a luminous ribbon stretching for almost 100 metres – hosts “Data Tunnel” by Refik Anadol as the inaugural work, realised by one of the most influential exponents of new media art worldwide.

His installation transforms the tunnel into an immersive environment: organic forms, oceanic pulses, atmospheric rhythms and botanical textures come to life in real time thanks to the Large Nature Model, an artificial intelligence trained on millions of data points collected from ecosystems across the planet. This is not a simple visual projection, but a living digital organism that flows across the entire space.

The result is a sensory journey where the history of this place meets cutting-edge technology. “Data Tunnel” reveals the hidden processes of nature and transforms an ancient passageway into an experience of contemplation open to everyone.
