Where:
Farra d'Isonzo
Tenuta Villanova
Founded in 1499, when the Strassoldo family acquired the estate from the patriarchate of Aquileia, Tenuta Villanova is today the oldest winery in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
In 1932 the estate was acquired by Arnaldo Bennati, and in 1985 it passed to his wife, Giuseppina Grossi. It is now run by their grandchildren, Francesca and Stefano Grossi, who skillfully combine a respect for tradition with an enthusiasm for the future of winemaking.
The property covers roughly 170 hectares, 100 of which are planted with vines between the prestigious Collio DOC hills and the alluvial plain of the Friuli Isonzo DOC. The estate honors both the land and its own historic identity, producing excellence in both winemaking and distillation.
Each vineyard is carefully cultivated to enhance the unique characteristics of the soil and microclimate; elements that help define the style and quality of the wines. Meticulous grape selection and expert cellar work make it possible to transform the fruit of the land into labels that convey authenticity, elegance, and personality. Every bottle tells a story of skill and dedication.
