Museum of Karstic House (Kraška Hiša)

Visit the museum in Trieste, a model of spontaneous Karstic architecture dating back to the late 18th century.

The Museum of Karstic House of Trieste is an example of spontaneous Karstic architecture dating back to the end of the 1700s that is characterised by a closed courtyard which brings the living quarters and the farm buildings together.

Inside the Museum of Karstic House you can admire the typical use of stone both in the construction and for ornamental means.

The furnishings, the everyday objects and the work tools are all original and document the typical Karstic domestic and productive activities in the 1800s and 1900s (viticulture, animal farming, agriculture).

The ancient hayloft above the barn now is used for a temporary exhibition, whilst the former tool storeroom has been used as a gallery.

Every two years (odd years), the ritual of a Karstic wedding takes place at the house.
