Fishery and Lagoon Civilization Museum

Visit the museum in Grado, which preserves the memory and culture of the fishermen's civilization.

A journey into the heart of the lagoon to discover the history, traditions, and knowledge of the people who lived for centuries between water and sky.

The Fishing and Lagoon Civilization Museum was created to tell the story of daily life and traditional fishing techniques developed in the Grado lagoon — a place shaped by isolation and a deep connection with nature. At the heart of the museum’s narrative is the casonera civilization: a community that lived permanently in the casoni – typical lagoon dwellings – until the post-World War II period, preserving customs and traditions unchanged for centuries.

When?
The museum can be visited free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays during specific times of the year, as listed on the official website of the Municipality of Grado.

Free guided visits with illustrated explanations are available (approx. 1 hour), offering a deeper insight into the exhibition spaces and lagoon culture.

Note:
Guided visits are held with a minimum of 5 participants.
Reservation required.
