Guided tour: Secrets of the Roman fort of Castro

An immersive experience to discover the ancient Castra, once an important Roman fortress and now a precious heritage site of the Vipava Valley. Led by an expert guide, participants will follow the traces of Roman life among archaeological remains, city walls, and places rich in history, to understand the past in an engaging and accessible way.

The tour takes place from April 15 to June 24, 2026 , every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., meeting at the Ajdovščina Tourist Information Center (Prešernova 9). The tour lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours and is suitable for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. The minimum number of participants is 3.

The cost for scheduled shifts is:

• Adults: €39
• Students and seniors: €29
• Children 5–12 years: €17
• Children under 5: free

You can rent a Roman tunic (optional) for €12. The price includes a guided tour, VAT, and a small Roman souvenir. Payment is made at the Ajdovščina Tourist Information Center.

Reservation required at least 48 hours in advance via email ( ajdovscina@vipavskadolina.si ). Free cancellation within 48 hours. The experience can also be organized upon request outside of the scheduled times, with rates varying based on the number of participants.
