Grand Opening of the Carsus Trail – The Green Heart of the Karst

The event marks the opening of a new circular long-distance trail, the Carsus Trail, connecting seven border municipalities in Slovenia and Italy. The trail symbolizes the reconstruction after the fires of 2022 and strengthens cross-border cooperation and sustainable development of the Karst landscape.

The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar. The program will be enriched by musical and dance performances by various artists and choirs. On this occasion, Banka Sparkasse will ceremonially hand over a donation for the maintenance and further development of the trail.

The accompanying program includes an exhibition of the 14 best forest educational trails of 2026 and a guided hike along the Cerje – Pečinka Cave – Cerje section. The entire event lasts approximately 2 hours, with the possibility of additional participation in the hike. Suitable hiking equipment is recommended.
