The hang gliding season kicks off with the Aeros Winter Race which is the first hang gliding race in Europe.

Aeros Winter Race Hang Gliding Competition The first competition in Europe.

The hang gliding season kicks off with the Aeros Winter Race which is the first hang gliding race in Europe. The international competition has become a staple of the valley’s event programme and garners great attention every year. Over 90 % of the participants are from other European countries.

For visitors, the event is exciting because you can experience a rare international competition live, where top pilots gather over a few days — along with all the pre-flight preparation and real competitive tactics. The Vipava Valley near Budanje offers breathtaking views and a wonderful sense of open space, making it a great idea for a spring day trip, photography, and a relaxed day outdoors. What makes it even more special is the authentic competition atmosphere — cheering, international energy, and the feeling that something truly distinctive is happening, not just “another event.”
