Impressionist Sculpture – "Rodin, Sculpture and Impression"

Impressionist Sculpture – "Rodin, Sculpture and Impression"

Evening lecture dedicated to Impressionist sculpture, "Rodin, Sculpture and Impressionism."

Rodin had a unique ability to shape clay into complex, powerful surfaces of unparalleled depth.

Many of his most famous works at the time were harshly criticized for their head-on clash with the dominant figurative academic sculptural tradition, according to which works had to be formally and conceptually stereotyped and strictly referable to classicism.

The great originality of Rodin's work lies in his starting point from traditional mythological and allegorical themes to model human figures with realism, enhancing the character and physicality of the individual through an impressionist technique, which he created, starting from Michelangelo's sculptures of slaves in Florence.

The discussion will focus on art, society, and the history of a time rich in change and new perspectives, and will include references to his troubled relationship with Camille Claudet.

The conference is hosted by the critic, art historian, and artist Juan Arias Gonano. During the evening, there will be a tasting break accompanied by a drink and the presentation of a number to each participant for the awarding of an artistic work, which will take place during the evening in April of this year.

Limited seating - reservations required: WhatsApp 347 7144643, ass.culturalelapisgorizia@gmail.com

The participation fee also includes a food tasting with a drink. Organized by: Lapis Cultural Association
