36th Gorizia Carnival

Program Description:

Sunday, February 8th

Starting at 2:00 PM, the Carnival parade of floats and masked groups will take place through the city center. Ten floats and 18 masked groups are expected.

The parade route: Corso Verdi, Corso Italia, Via XXIV Maggio, Via Sauro, Piazza del Municipio, Via De Gasperi, Via Roma and the grand finale in Piazza Vittoria with a final party.

From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM – Carnival party with DJ music and dancing under the new parking lot at the former wholesale market on Via Boccaccio; winners' awards ceremony at 7:30 PM

Monday, February 16 – Children's Carnival

2:30 pm – Children's gathering in front of the Verdi Theatre (Via Garibaldi) Parade along Corso Verdi, Via Oberdan, Piazza Vittoria

3:00 PM – Party in the Square, with a masquerade contest, entertainment, games, sweets, and face painting.

5:30 p.m. – Screening of the film “SpongeBob: A Pirate Adventure” at Kinemax (single ticket €4.00)

 

Wednesday, February 18 – Funeral of King Carnival

4.00 pm – speech by the notary, in front of the Town Hall

4:45 PM – Reading of the will, cremation of King Carnival, and “rebechin” at the San Rocco festival site

5:30 pm – Resumption of the funeral procession. Route: Via Lantieri, Piazza S. Antonio, Piazza Cavour, Via Marconi, Via Mazzini, Piazza del Municipio, Via Garibaldi, public gardens of Corso Verdi.
