Ingress Mission Day & First Saturday

The European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 is set to host an event that combines technology, tourism, and social gaming: Ingress Mission Day (MD) and First Saturday (IFS). The event will involve dozens of enthusiasts of Niantic’s augmented reality game Ingress – the same company that launched Pokémon GO in 2016, revolutionising the AR gaming landscape.

The event has a dual purpose: to allow players, called “Agents”, to complete a series of virtual missions guiding them through the main points of interest in Gorizia and Nova Gorica, turning the border into a unified path of cultural and historical discovery. Augmented reality gaming becomes one of the most effective tools for promoting exploration and knowledge of the area, virtually connecting Gorizia and Nova Gorica while celebrating friendship and cross-border cooperation through fun.

The event will take place from 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes:

• Mission Day (MD): the official exploration route highlighting monuments, squares, and scenic viewpoints across both cities.
• First Saturday (IFS): a social gathering bringing together Agents from both factions (Enlightened and Resistance) for training sessions, exchanges, and friendly competitions.
