“Remembering…”: The 4th Youth Choir Festival in Gorizia

The Gorizia Choral Association "CA Seghizzi" presents the fourth edition of "Ricordando..." (Remembering...), the eagerly awaited festival dedicated to children's and youth voices, featuring  students from schools in the province. The event, conceived in 2023 by Cristina Cristancig (director of the Seghizzi Choir and professor at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste), aims to honor the memory of Maestro Giancarlo Bini, the longtime director of the Seghizzi Choir and a sensitive composer of repertoire for young people.
More than just a performance, the event aims to be an educational opportunity to highlight the choir as a privileged space for research and culture. Through singing, the young people explore social norms of listening, respect, and discussion, cultivating empathy, which is essential for "feeling good together."

The initiative has attracted the support of several local comprehensive schools, demonstrating the strong connection between schools and the Gorizia choral community:
IC "V. Locchi - L. Perco" of Gorizia (Lucico branch)
IC “C. Macor” by Romàns
Slovenian-language IC of Doberdò del Lago (Romjan/Vermegliano branch)
IC “GI Ascoli” of Gorizia
IC “FU Della Torre - L. Verni” of Fogliano Redipuglia

The musical program will span different genres and cultures: from traditional Slovenian and Zambian songs to international pop classics like Michael Jackson's "Earth Song," to songs from film and musicals like "Vois sur ton chemin" and "Memory." There will also be a tribute to Maestro Bini with a performance of "Promemoria," based on lyrics by Gianni Rodari.
