21. Meeting of mountaineers on Črna prst | Soča Valley Hiking & Biking Festival

Join the hike to Črna prst – a mountain of alpine flowers, with a cultural program, holy mass, music, and local delicacies.

Črna prst, the easternmost peak of the Bohinj-Tolmin mountain range, got its name from the dark patch of Jurassic shale just below the summit. Its ridge borders the Triglav National Park. Črna prst, especially the sunny slope above the Bača Valley, has been renowned for its diverse flora since the late 18th century. Its floral carpets are most beautiful during the peak of the mountain spring and early summer, usually in July. Zorko Jelinčič Mountain Hut on Črna prst The hut is located just below the summit, along the Slovenian Mountain Trail and the international Via Alpina hiking route. Since 1959, it has been managed by the Podbrdo Mountaineering Club. Capacity: 2-person rooms – 8 beds, dormitory – 30 beds, winter room – 2 beds. Open: from early June to mid-September. From Podbrdo, we will follow the marked mountain trail to Črna prst (Podbrdo–Trtnik–Kalarsko Brdo–Črna prst). A warm welcome awaits you at the top. At 11:00, a short cultural program will be followed by a holy mass in memory of all deceased mountaineers. Afterwards, enjoy live local accordion music and refreshments with grilled fish from the local fish farm Slap (at Rusc). Around 14:00, return to the valley. We encourage you to take the train to Podbrdo to support greater use of public transport and reduce your carbon footprint.
