Visionaries: When a Passion Is Born (Guided Cross-Border Cycling Tour)

Visionaries: When a Passion Is Born (Guided Cross-Border Cycling Tour)

The third film walk will take place as part of the Our Everyday Cinema project: a guided cross-border cycling tour dedicated to Darko Bratina, Sergio Amidei, Ugo Casiraghi, Sandro Scandolaro, Dorica Makuc, and Silvano Furlan.

From 28 July to 2 August, a guided cycling tour will be available every day in Gorizia, Solkan, and Nova Gorica. During the ride, we will explore the Gorizia region through the eyes of six film visionaries. The tours will start at 18:30 (18:00) from the BorGO Cinema premises on Raštel Street and end in the center of Nova Gorica at around 20:30. The tour will be also available on 30 and 31 August 2025 at 18:00, in Slovene and Italian—for more information follow this link.

You can register via this link.

About the tour:

While cycling, we will delve into the visions of six figures who were either born in or lived in Gorizia:

  • Sandro Scandolara (journalist and film club organizer),
  • Ugo Casiraghi (film critic),
  • Darko Bratina (founder of Kinoatelje and the Sergio Amidei Award),
  • Dorica Makuc (documentary filmmaker),
  • Sergio Amidei (screenwriter), and
  • Silvan Furlan (director of the Slovenian Cinematheque).

"May this area become a reference point for film culture." This was the vision of Darko Bratina, Sandro Scandolara, and their cross-border peers like Silvan Furlan. Today, Gorizia and Nova Gorica host a variety of cinema-related projects—thanks to these visionaries and others such as Sergio Amidei, Ugo Casiraghi, and Dorica Makuc. They were not famous directors or actors, but devoted creators and thinkers who left behind a rich cinematic legacy that continues to grow and thrive today.
