ZENO A LUCINICO Tribute to Italo Svevo

ZENO A LUCINICO Tribute to Italo Svevo

Introduction of the sculpture by Paolo Figar and Giovanni Bressa. It's a tribute to Italo Svevo who wrote La Coscienza di Zeno whose protagonist Zeno Cosini, in the last chapter of the novel spent some days in Lucinico at the outbreak of the First World War.

The last chapter of La Coscienza di Zeno is mainly set in Lucinico. As it is considered one of the masterpieces of European and Mitteleuropean literature, Lucinico is very proud of it. Some years ago prof. Loredana Rossi Devetag proposed to the magazine Lucinis to give a visible sign to celebrate the memory of Italo Svevo/Zeno Cosini. The proposal was accepted and the sculpture, created by Giovanni Bressan and Paol Figar, was unveiled in Via del Camposanto last year. The sculptural artifact honors the Mitteleuropean culture to which Lucinico proudly belongs. The project has been supported and approved by prof. Tiziana Piras, Dipartimento di italianistica dell’Università di Trieste.
