WRITING THE BORDER Literary map of contemporaneity

The International Conference ‘Writing the Border. A literary map of contemporaneity’ will be held at the University of Trieste (Androna Campo Marzio 10, Sala Atti “Arduino Agnelli”) on Thursday 13 March and Friday 14 March 2025.
The event is organised on the occasion of Gorizia - Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture within the framework of the 4th Festival of Angels by Gruppo Ermada Flavio Vidonis in collaboration with the Department of Humanities of the University of Trieste and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and is supported by the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli - Venezia Giulia.
The theme of borders in contemporary Italian literary writing is considered in relation to one or more works linked to other cultures, authors or their translation, always starting from a real datum. Authors who have therefore in various forms inhabited, crossed, crossed the border in their own life experience and have rethought it with their narrative writing in terms of theoretical reflection and metaliterary reconnaissance.
The conference therefore proposes an unprecedented mapping of writings that, starting from an objective datum of experience, in the connection with geography, landscape and space, understand the border not only on a geopolitical level, but as a multifaceted possibility of geographical and altogether symbolic borders, which can be represented according to new lines and drawings and can perceive new maps or literary atlases of contemporaneity.
