Unique Eunic Orchestra Jazz Concert

You are kindly invited to Tolmin on 17 July 2025, for a Pan-European jazz journey with the musicians.  

Experience an exceptional musical event celebrating the diversity and richness of European jazz. The UNIQUE EUNIC ORCHESTRA, an international ensemble of seven acclaimed jazz musicians from seven different European countries, offers the audience a vibrant journey through the musical landscapes of Europe.

This unique artistic formation unites individual musical voices into a powerful expression of cultural unity, creativity, and dialogue. The concert is not only a top-tier presentation of jazz improvisation and expression, but also a testament to the power of cross-border collaboration and the shared language of music.

Line-up of the UNIQUE EUNIC Jazz Orchestra:

  • Voro García (Spain) – a trumpet virtuoso from Valencia and a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. García has performed at major jazz festivals worldwide and collaborated with artists such as Miguel Poveda, Peter Bernstein, and George Garzone.
  • Igor Lumpert (Slovenia) – a tenor saxophonist who blends hypnotic rhythms and modal melodies rooted in his Slovenian heritage with a modern jazz spirit. Praised by NEA Jazz Master Todd Barkan and the New York City Jazz Record for his visionary creativity.
  • Reto Suhner (Switzerland) – an alto saxophonist known for his commitment to improvisation and spontaneous musical dialogue. Suhner performs with many acclaimed ensembles across Europe.
  • Mátyás Papp (Hungary) – an award-winning trombonist and composer, member of the renowned Modern Art Orchestra and a key figure of the contemporary Hungarian jazz scene.
  • Oliver Kent (Austria) – a distinguished jazz pianist and professor who has played with legends such as Sheila Jordan, Benny Golson, and the Jazz Big Band Graz. His style draws from the hard bop tradition and radiates deep lyricism.
  • Marc Abrams (Italy) – born in New York, bassist Marc Abrams has performed with jazz greats such as Chet Baker and Steve Lacy. He currently teaches at the Conservatory in Padua.
  • Matthias Gmelin (Germany) – a veteran of the Munich and international jazz scenes, Gmelin has played with the NDR Big Band and studied under jazz legends in New York. His drumming is dynamic, refined, and adaptable to various jazz formations.
