"Together." Concerto for Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano

Yulia Berinskaya, violin Elisa Marchetto, viola Elisa Fassetta, cello Slak Nace, piano Music by Shostakovich, Schumann.

The program brings together two early chamber works that already reveal the distinctive imprint of two great musical personalities: Dmitri Shostakovich's Trio No. 1 and Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet Op. 47.

Composed in 1923 when he was just 17, Shostakovich's trio presents itself as an intense piece, pervaded by lyricism and restlessness, with moments of romantic impetus atypical for the composer, who in his mature language would be defined by irony and dramatic tension.

Schumann wrote his Quartet for Piano and Strings in 1842, the year in which he decided to turn his attention to chamber music, resulting in the composition of some absolute masterpieces of Romantic musical literature.

The work combines poetry and classical structure, and the piano, although central, dialogues with the strings in a rich and dynamic interweaving, dominated by an intimate and at times visionary lyricism.

Two works distant in context and style, united by a common expressive urgency and a dense and communicative chamber music style.
