The Way of Creativity tells its story
Here's the English translation: What remains of a city once you leave it? The 24 international authors hosted in Gorizia as part of the Via della Creatività cinema residencies share their experience of the city: testimonies, memories of an encounter, a place, an ordinary moment lived here. On Wednesday evening, these stories return to the city, read aloud by Mario Milosa and Valentina Verzegnassi. Among the artists, Oleksii Lupashko, Joakim Kocjancic and Marta Pasqualini will be present in the room.
Here's the English translation: VIA DELLA CREATIVITÀ TELLS ITS STORY The guests of the eight PNRR Borghi-funded cinema residencies share stories, testimonies and reflections on their experience in Gorizia: What remains of a city once you leave it?
And what does a cross-border city leave in an artist who has lived it, even for just three weeks?
On Wednesday, April 29th at 5:30 PM, at the headquarters of Artisti Associati BorGo Live Academy, Via Rastello 29 in Gorizia, Via della Creatività opens its doors to the city with a free public event: voices, images and music born from the encounter between European artists and the Gorizia area.
Via della Creatività is the programme of cinematographic artistic residencies promoted by the Associazione Palazzo del Cinema di Gorizia in collaboration with ANAC – Associazione Nazionale Autori Cinematografici, with the support of the European Union–Next Generation EU, the Ministry of Culture, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Municipality of Gorizia.
Born as a project of cultural and urban regeneration of the ancient Borgo Castello, it has been, over the past two years, a project capable of transforming Gorizia — a cross-border city and European Capital of Culture 2025 together with Nova Gorica — into a hub of encounter and exchange for contemporary cinema.
Since August 19th, 2024, the opening day of the first session, twenty-four international authors from around the world have worked at the Borgo Cinema workshop: from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Sweden, South Africa, Australia, France, Morocco, Germany, Ukraine and Italy. Cinema professionals hosted and welcomed in the city for three weeks, allowing themselves to be inspired by the atmosphere and the Central European historical heritage of Gorizia.
Through this initiative, visitors will be able to discover how Gorizia has made its way into their stories, via a public reading open to the city.
The protagonists of the event will be the images, music and texts imagined and created by those who lived Via della Creatività. Short and personal accounts read by the very citizens who make this city unique: moments, encounters, details of an ordinary day spent in Gorizia. Authentic or purely invented fragments of an experience that passed through the city.
To follow, two special guests. Joakim Kocjancic, a photographer in residence during the winter 2025 session, will present his visual project on Gorizia and Nova Gorica: a study carried out entirely in black and white on 35mm film, exploring the border as a shared space of memory and everyday life.
Oleksii Lupashko, a Ukrainian composer and musician and former Via della Creatività resident, will offer a live performance blending sonic experimentation and cinematic language.
The names of all 24 guests of Via della Creatività: Isabella Sandri, Giuseppe Gaudino, Fabian Medea, Beatrice Baldacci, Marina Spada, Federica D'Ignoti, Joakim Kocjancic, Oleksii Lupashko, Maurizio Sciarra, Sergio Ballo, Christopher Buchholz, Lorenzo Pallotta, Mauro Conciatori, Eleonora Cao Pinna, Vincenzo Pandolfi, Ali Ilhan, Natalie Curtis, Sam Thorpe-Spinks, Marco Bolognesi, Irene Dorigotti, Setareh Pirkhedri, Lina Laraki, Parish Malfitano, Marta Pasqualini.
