“The Torments of Poseidon”

"The Torments of Poseidon," a scientific-artistic exhibition curated by the GLOBE ITALIA APS Association, will be inaugurated in Marano Lagunare with an opening ceremony on July 31st at 6:00 PM, at the former Pescheria Vecchia exhibition space.

The theme of the exhibition is the emergency of the growing presence of microplastics in the environment, and particularly in water.

OPENING CEREMONY: July 31, 6:00 PM.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: July 31, August 1 and 2.

OPENING HOURS: 10:00 - 22:00.

Guided tours of the exhibition: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

FREE ENTRY.

From July 31st to August 2nd, the traveling exhibition-event will be open in Marano Lagunare, stopping at the Pescheria Vecchia after Palmanova and Cervignano del Friuli. The exhibition is intended to educate and is divided into several sections illustrating the life cycle of microplastics, from their origin to their accumulation in the environment and the food chain.

The current state of scientific knowledge for quantifying the phenomenon and its impacts on ecosystems and health is presented, along with possible innovations and mitigations.

The visitor is hosted in an immersive environment and guided through graphics, image galleries, videos, installations, artistic works, and evidence of ongoing research at the local and international level.

You will also be able to experience, through laboratory activities, the phases of the Microplastics Monitoring Protocol (MMP), which the GLOBE ITALIA APS Association, curator of the exhibition, has been helping to implement in schools and universities in various regions of the world since 2021.

The project has trained over 700 teachers to monitor the presence of microplastics in water bodies, raising awareness among students and the public about this environmental emergency. Guided workshops are planned. Visit duration: approximately 2 hours.

The exhibition-event will be available again in September with a compendium in Monfalcone, and in full in Gorizia - Nova Gorica.

The exhibition is part of the MICROPLASC/ART project by Associazione GLOBE ITALIA APS, supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region as part of the cultural initiatives leading up to GO!2025.
