Lecture by photographer, archivist and researcher Joseph Cochran (New York) for university students, open to researchers, photographers, sociologists, archivists and anyone interested in deepen the topic

Starting from the experience of the visual artist and researcher Joseph Cochran (New York) and aiming to suggest possible peripheral visions to the historical and sociological study of the cross-border society, a lecture to explore how photography and archival practices can act at the intersection between the legacies of the past and current socio-economic and political narratives, giving impetus to new interpretation.

In an open dialogue with university students, researchers and archivists, the artist will show the research process that led him to the creation of one of his latest works, The Quartermaster, exhibited in Malta during its first biennale (2024).

An artistic project of historical research that tries to reinterpret themes as necropolitics, slavery and migration in a continuous dialogue between past and contemporary times, local context and peripheral vision. An opportunity to cultivate multiplicity of thought and foster a change.

The lecture will be held in English and also streamed on the project platform. Registration is mandatory at www.peripheralvisions.eu .
