THE HERO’S JOURNEY - An immersive mythological hike

The Hero’s Journey is an immersive mythological hike along the trails, trenches and First World War tunnels of Sveta Gora. In small groups, participants move through twelve stations based on the stages of Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey. Along the way, they encounter performers, listen to myths and stories, and take part in interactive tasks. The experience combines theatrical storytelling, mythology, nature and the history of Sveta Gora.

Sveta Gora, route through the caverns The Hero’s Journey is an immersive hike along the trails, trenches and First World War tunnels of Sveta Gora, lasting approximately two hours.

In small groups, participants move through twelve stations based on the stages of Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey. Along the way, they encounter performers, listen to myths and stories, and take part in simple interactive tasks.

The journey leads from the ordinary world through the call, trials and a symbolic descent into the underworld, and finally to the return.

Participants are therefore not merely spectators but active participants in the journey, connecting mythological stories with their own experiences and life roles.

The hike combines theatrical storytelling, mythology and nature with the history of the tunnels and trenches of Sveta Gora. The project continues the following day with the experiential workshop Exploring Life Roles at Xcenter Nova Gorica. 

The workshop represents the concluding stage of The Hero’s Journey, while also functioning as a completely independent event that can be attended without taking part in the hike.

IMPORTANT BEFORE REGISTERING

The route follows forest trails and trenches and passes through dark and cooler tunnels, so an appropriate level of physical fitness is required.

Required equipment:

– good hiking footwear

– headlamp

– warm clothing or an additional layer for the tunnels

– small backpack

– water
