SOIRÉE FRANÇAISE

SOIRÉE FRANÇAISE

Clouds pierced by the calls of a boat on the Seine, echoes of celebrations and triumphal marches from a distant past, the wordless song of sirens amidst the sea waves, the poetic suggestions of Claude Debussy's Nocturnes blend beautifully with the second suite from Daphnis et Chloé, a pantomime of two young lovers, with the dawn, the courtship, the frenetic bacchanal in Maurice Ravel's imaginary ancient Greece, in this wonderful program dedicated to French Symbolist and Impressionist music.

Spain also takes center stage with "Rapsodie espagnole" and "Bolero," the two most famous Iberian-inspired works by Ravel, whose 150th birthday we celebrate this year. This musical kaleidoscope draws on the excellence of the orchestral musicians gathered in the NordEst Sinfonia, musicians whose talent flourished in our country, leading them to important international musical institutions.
