Sinapsa Insekta
Interactive Audiovisual Installation
Sinapsa Insekta is an interactive audiovisual installation that explores the microcosm of insects as rhythmic organisms within the ecosystem, establishing a connection between humans, biodiversity and technology.
At the heart of the installation are field recordings of insect bioacoustics, a spatial sound composition and generative visualisations that respond in real time to human presence and internal states.
Through EEG biofeedback, these states are reflected in sound filters, spatial pulsations and visual structures that grow and branch out like a neural network.
Through their diverse life cycles and bioacoustic patterns, insects reveal the different rhythms and temporal flows of nature.
The installation invites visitors to explore the subjective perception of time and the interplay between human and animal perspectives.
At the same time, it raises questions about the less visible layers of ecosystems, the influence of human perception on the representation of nature, and the potential of contemporary technologies to foster new forms of environmental reflection.
Sinapsa Insekta creates a responsive sensory environment in which humans are not merely observers, but active participants in a dynamic system where sound, image, body and ecosystem converge in a shared flow.
Simon Šerc and Martina Testen are internationally recognised artists working in the fields of audiovisual and intermedia art.
