ShorTS International Film Festival - 26th Edition

ShorTS International Film Festival reaches its 26th consecutive edition.

The rich and varied program brings to the screen every year the best of the recent production of short films at an international level, confirming the Festival as a point of reference for the short film genre. Workshops, masterclasses with big names in the international film scene, special events and screenings out of competition will frame the screenings, giving life to a heterogeneous and original proposal capable of intercepting different audience targets.

Special attention will also be paid in this new edition to activities aimed at children and young people, with the aim of introducing the youngest to the world of cinema and audiovisual. The 26th edition of ShorTS International Film Festival will take place from June 28th to July 5th 2025.

The festival takes place in Trieste (in the locations of Giardino Pubblico Muzio de Tommasini, Teatro Miela, Sala Xenia) and online on MYmovies ONE, where the Italian previews in competition will be shown for the entire duration of the festival. Particular attention is paid to the proposal for young people, for whom a screening dedicated to Gorizia at Kinemax is planned.

From June 28th to July 5th, screenings and other activities will take place in the rich and varied program offered every year by ShorTS IFF.

There are six competitive sections dedicated to short films: the Maremetraggio section, dedicated to the best of international short film production; the Italia in ShorTS section, reserved for Italian short films of all genres and styles; the ShorTS Express section, dedicated to experimental short films from all over the world and lasting a maximum of 5 minutes; the Eco-ShorTS section, dedicated to international short films that deal with environmental issues and the relationship between man and nature.

A particularly significant section of our festival is Shorter Kids'n'Teens, entirely dedicated to the young audience and a sort of “festival within the festival” aimed at the little ones.

The program, curated by an expert media educator, was developed between April and May by a small group of children and young people who oversaw the selection; the children and young people will also be called to the room to decree the winning short films.

As in previous editions, a matinée screening has been organized in collaboration with the Sergio Amidei Kids Award at the Kinemax in Gorizia, scheduled for Thursday 3 July at 10:00 am, with free admission.

Workshops, panels, meetings and extra events will further enrich the already rich and varied programming of this 26th edition (including the ShorTS Development & Pitching Training workshop and the ShorTS Comics Marathon, both of which have now become traditional events for their respective target audiences).
