SAXO MATTO – Checkmate in Music
A unique project that blends music and chess into a captivating stage experience. Two under-35 saxophone orchestras – one Italian and one Slovenian – reinterpret the legendary 1972 “Match of the Century” between Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer through an original composition by Alessio Domini and Maria Beatrice Orlando. On stage, a giant chessboard comes to life as two players reenact the historic moves, seamlessly echoed by the music. An emblem of cross-border cooperation through the arts, created for GO!2025.
