Nika Batista: Principles of the Invisible

The performative walk Principles of the Invisible leads through the park among fluttering layers of transparent textiles and fading hopes. The artist wraps herself with the wind, ties and layers herself with memories.

The performative walks titled Principles of the Invisible by artist Nika Batista are thoughtful sound-and-movement experiences that will take place on 21 June, 3 July and 14 August 2025, in Rafut Park as part of the BIEN 2025 Textile Art Biennial. This walking performance guides the audience through the park amid fluttering layers of transparent textiles and fading hopes.

The artist pulls and wraps her body with the wind, ties and layers herself with memories, while the air penetrates every thread and every plant in the park. With each step, thoughts and decaying memories accumulate as gentle imprints of the body in space and time.

Nika Batista, born in 1991, is an intermedia artist working at the intersection of performance, textiles, the body, and the visualization of emotions. Her work explores the subtle balance between the felt and the seen, placing the human being at the center of emotional existence. Her projects transcend conceptual and physical boundaries and are marked by a sense of ephemerality.

Before the walk, on 21 June 2025 at 11:00, there will be a concert by the chamber ensemble NOVA in the amphitheater of Rafut Park, offering the audience a selection of well-known classical and popular pieces, introducing them to a day dedicated to the sensory experience of body, space, and art.
