MOUNTAINS WITHOUT BORDERS - JULIUS KUGY AND THE MUSIC OF THE LANDSCAPE

Mountain without borders project - Julius Kugy and the music of the landscape Concert entitled "Musical landscapes in the time of Kugy" Tamara Ivanis Zaplatic soprano winner of the 21st International Chamber Singing Competition "Seghizzi" Tjaša Šulc Dejanović piano Presentation by Alessia Zangrando

The project “Mountains without borders. Julius Kugy and the music of the landscape” promoted with great success by the Storica Società Operaia di Pordenone with the artistic direction of Eddi de Nadai, concludes with music through a popular calendar of events, including concerts, conferences and editorial proposals, in the territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia from Pordenone to the Gorizia-Isonzo area protagonist of GO! 2025, whose themes the path was inspired by, around the figure of Julius Kugy, mountaineer, writer, botanist, humanist and, for pleasure, musician, emblem of the Central European languages and cultures between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

And it is precisely to his era that the concert “Musical landscapes in the time of J. Kugy” on Thursday 3 July at 8.45 pm in the Convent of San Francesco in Pordenone is dedicated, which will feature the duo formed by the Croatian soprano Tamara Ivaniš Zaplatić, winner of the “Seghizzi” 2024 Chamber Singing Competition, and Tjaša Šulc Dejanović, a Slovenian pianist and teacher at the Maribor Conservatory, with a repertoire that will offer many of the authors who left traces of their art in that historical period, and especially in the central-eastern area of Europe.

The programme includes, alongside well-known pieces by authors such as Grieg, Mahler, Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf, but also by Cesare Augusto Seghizzi and F. Paolo Tosti, works by Slovenian and Croatian composers, and by European female composers of notable interest, such as the Croatian Dora Pejačević (1885-1923) and the Belgian Eva Dell'Acqua (1856-1930).
