Conference entitled Julius Kugy, Prophet of the Open Border Speaker Maurizio Bait (journalist and writer) with the participation of Valentina Randazzo - Fondazione Coronini Cronberg

The conference will focus on the figure of Julius Kugy (1858-1944) (explorer of new routes in the Julian Alps, but also in the Friulian Dolomites), writer, botanist and, for pleasure, musician. An emblematic figure of a culture “without borders” starting from his family origins and education, having been born in Gorizia (in Palazzo Coronini) to a Slovenian mother and an Austrian father, having lived in Trieste and imbued with that Central European education (linguistic, artistic and humanistic), which today, in the year of the European Capital of Culture, returns to the fore in all its aspects.
