Kmetijska krajina – življenje med polji in sadovnjaki

We invite you to join us for the nature workshop Agricultural Landscape – Life among Fields and Orchards, which will take place as part of the GOmini project. Target group: families with children aged 6 to 10.

During the workshop, we will explore nature in the agricultural landscape and learn that fields, meadows, orchards, vineyards and hedgerows are not only places where food is produced, but also habitats for many plants and animals.

We often associate agricultural landscapes mainly with crops and cultivated plants, but they are also home to wild plants, pollinators, insects, farmland birds and many other small organisms that we often overlook. Through guided observation, participants will discover different forms of life in the agricultural landscape.

We will observe plants and animals that find food, shelter or a place to live among the fields, along path edges, in the grass, on flowers and near orchards. We will also use digital microscopes, which will allow us to observe tiny organisms, flowers, leaves, seeds and other interesting details up close — details that we often do not notice with the naked eye.

In addition to observation, we will also talk about how human activities, intensive land use, the use of pesticides and fertilisers, and the disappearance of flowering meadows, hedgerows and other diverse habitats affect nature in agricultural landscapes.

Together, we will reflect on why pollinators, farmland birds, wild plants, flowering field margins and the diversity of cultivated plants are important for nature, food production and the quality of our lives.

The project is financed by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Project Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
