GOLD!2025 The Gold of the Earth

Artistic competition for contemporary art, photography, drawing.

Artists, both Italian, Slovenian, and foreign, will be invited to present a work with the theme of gold.

They will help us understand the indissoluble bond between human beings and the noble metal, to open a reflection on the equitable distribution of resources among various countries in a spirit of brotherhood and universal cooperation. Since ancient times, gold has played a fundamental role in the economy, politics, and culture of many civilizations.

Gold was the metal chosen to create jewelry; it was held in high regard due to its rarity, its resistance to tarnish, and its malleability, allowing it to be easily worked.

One of the oldest civilizations that produced magnificent gold jewelry was that of the ancient Egyptians, who skillfully crafted bracelets, pendants, necklaces, rings, earrings, diadems, headdresses, chest ornaments, and gold collars, as well as harnesses for horses, pottery, statues, and much more. In Italy, eight centuries before Christ, the Etruscans, a people settled in the Tuscany region, crafted objects made of skillfully worked gold.

They produced brooches and clasps, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, as well as hollow pendants where they carried perfume. Meanwhile, the Romans created coins and vessels from gold, as well as jewelry, swords, and armor.

A great historical and artistic heritage has been found in excavations, among the ruins of a grand and immortal Empire.

Today, gold still holds great importance, and high jewelry produces exquisite works of inestimable value; in this regard, it is also worth mentioning the ever-thriving gold market, which is on the rise.

Gold in art has had significant importance throughout history, representing not only a symbol of wealth but also of spirituality and power. Historical Use: Gold has been widely used in artworks, from Byzantine mosaics to works by artists like Klimt and Giotto, to enhance beauty and sacredness.

Symbolism: In the history of art, gold has taken on various meanings, such as sin and temptation in classical art, and passion in Romanticism.Sacred Art: During the Middle Ages, gold was intensively used in sacred art, giving a sense of divinity and transcendence to religious representations.

Emotional Impact: Gold is not just a color, but a symbol of light and power, capable of evoking not only deep emotions but also a sense of protection.

These aspects demonstrate how gold continues to be a central element in art, influencing styles and meanings through the centuries.
