Giorgio de Chirico. The Mechanics of Thought

The Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art in Monfalcone, with the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, pays tribute to the father of metaphysical painting with the exhibition Giorgio de Chirico. The Mechanics of Thought.

The exhibition brings together around 50 works divided into six thematic areas: from iconic metaphysical squares to still lifes, from symbolic horses to Venetian landscapes, from figures and portraits to drawings that reveal the complexity of thought and poetic genius of the Master of Volos. Among the works on display are the famous Plastico dei Bagni Misteriosi (Model of the Mysterious Baths) from 1973 and loans from institutions such as the GNAMC in Rome, the MART in Rovereto and private collections rarely accessible to the public. 

An event of international importance, curated by Cesare Orler, which enriches the calendar of Go! 2025 Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture and reinforces Monfalcone's role as a centre of reference for modern and contemporary art.
