Getting to Know Blessed Bertrando

Getting to Know Blessed Bertrando

An Event to Rediscover a Key Figure in Friulian History.

The programme will start at 4 p.m. with a nature walk led by expert guide Daniele Bertossio in the Beato Bertrando Park in Nogaredo di Prato.

Afterwards, at 5.30 p.m., at the cross named after him, Professor Alberto Travain will give a lecture entitled ‘Life and myth of Blessed Bertrando’, delving into his historical and spiritual role.

The day will end at 6.30 p.m. with the celebration of Holy Mass. Bertrando di San Genesio (1260-1350) was a prominent personality in the political and religious context of the 14th century.

As Patriarch of Aquileia, he exercised both ecclesiastical and temporal authority, leading Friuli at a time marked by tensions between the Holy Roman Empire, the Republic of Venice, the Count of Gorizia and the Italian Communes.

His diplomatic skills and actions were decisive for the defence of the autonomy of the Patriarchate and the political balance of the region. The event is open to the public and does not require advance registration.

An opportunity to learn more about a central figure in the history of Friuli, immersing oneself in an experience of culture, spirituality and connection with the territory.
