Getting to Know Blessed Bertrando

Border Avant-gardes: Great aristic currents and regional painters

An Event to Rediscover a Key Figure in Friulian History.

The program will begin at 4:00 PM with a nature walk led by expert guide Daniele Bertossio within the Beato Bertrando Park in Nogaredo di Prato.

Following this, at 5:30 PM, near the cross dedicated to him, Professor Alberto Travain will present a lecture titled “Life and Myth of Beato Bertrando”, exploring his historical and spiritual significance.

The day will conclude at 6:30 PM with the celebration of the Holy Mass. Bertrando di San Genesio (1260-1350) was a prominent figure in the political and religious landscape of the 14th century.

As Patriarch of Aquileia, he held both ecclesiastical and temporal authority, leading Friuli during a time of tensions between the Holy Roman Empire, the Republic of Venice, the Count of Gorizia, and the Italian city-states.

His diplomatic skills and political actions were crucial in defending the autonomy of the Patriarchate and maintaining regional stability.

The event is open to the public and requires no prior registration. It is an opportunity to deepen the understanding of a central figure in Friulian history while experiencing culture, spirituality, and a connection with the territory.
