Mostra "Obiettivo confine" di Pierluigi Bumbaca

The “Border Focus” (Obiettivo confine) photography exhibition by Gorizia-born photojournalist Pierluigi Bumbaca. Text by Roberto Covaz. A visual journey from the Yugoslavian era to Go! 2025.

The exhibition “Border Focus” (Obiettivo confine) by Pierluigi Bumbaca celebrates the border city. The images presented support and connect the many narratives regarding Gorizia during the year it experiences being the European Capital of Culture together with Nova Gorica. Selecting the photos to present to the public was not easy, having the hundreds of thousands preserved in Pierluigi’s archive.

The period examined by the exhibition begins in the mid-1980s and ends on February 8, 2025, the opening day of Go!2025. It is an exhibition that spreads across four venues because Gorizia, with its most evocative and history-filled corners, serves as the backdrop for Bumbaca’s photographs.

The initiative is sponsored by the Municipality of Gorizia.

The project is funded by the Call for Proposals for the granting of contributions within the pilot project “A Thousand Years of History at the Centre of Europe”: Borgo Castello, a Crossroads of Peoples and Cultures”,
