Communication, exchanges and meetings in the Gorizia area (Day 1)

Exploring the history of the Gorizia area from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

The 98th Conference of the Deputazione di Storia Patria per il Friuli will be held on 16 and 17 October 2025, jointly hosted in Nova Gorica and Gorizia. The event is organized in collaboration with the ZRC SAZU Milko Kos Historical Institute, and will be devoted to exploring the historical development of the Gorizia area, from its early medieval origins to the twentieth century. The conference programme will be organized into three sessions. The first session will take place in the conference hall of Franciscan monastery Kostanjevica on Thursday, 16 October 2025, commencing at 2:30 p.m. The second and third sessions will be held on Friday, 17 October 2025, at Casa Ascoli in Gorizia, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively. The participation of several historians is expected: Riccardo Cecovini, Miha Kosi, Matjaž Bizjak, Miha Preinfalk, Silvano Cavazza, Erik Sever, Claudio Ferlan, Elisa Brumat, Neva Makuc, Paolo Iancis, Ivan Portelli, Petra Kolenc, Caterina Conti and Marco Plesnicar.
