Awarding the European Railway Prize ‘Euroferr' September 2025

Italo-Slovenian cultural and railway event - On 19 September 2025, at Adriafer Rail Services in Gorizia, an event dedicated to the role of the railway as a cultural bridge between Italy and Slovenia will be held, with award ceremonies, a round table, contemporary art and music, as part of GO! 2025 - European Capital of Culture.
The initiative is part of the Go!2025 celebrations and represents a symbolic and concrete opportunity to strengthen the historical, cultural and infrastructural ties between Italy and Slovenia through the universal language of the railway.
The event will open with the awarding ceremony of the European Railway Prize ‘EUROFERR’, conferred by AEC (Association Européenne des Cheminots), UTP/Assoutenti and CIFI to the international stations of Gorizia and Nova Gorica for their high historical, tourist, environmental and archaeological value. Adriafer will also be honoured on this occasion as a well-deserving company in the railway sector.
This will be followed by a discussion entitled ‘Cultural Intermodality and the Culture of Intermodality’, which will involve experts and representatives from the railway and cultural worlds in a round table discussion with a European dimension.
The debate will explore the role of the railway as a connecting element between cultures and territories beyond national borders. The event will continue with the presentation of a work by the artist Emilio Isgrò, who will be present, created on an Adriafer electric locomotive, bearing witness to the encounter between contemporary art, technology and sustainable mobility.
At the end, a convivial moment will follow with an apericena and a concert in which local artists will take part, aimed at encouraging participants to meet in a multicultural and festive atmosphere.
We would also like to point out that the entire event will be conducted in Italian and Slovenian, thanks to the presence of an interpreter, in order to emphasise the bilingual environment in which the event takes place.
The initiative is held with the participation of GECT GO and SDAG, associated partners actively involved in the organisation of the event.
